Congratulations to both the girls and boys varsity teams for wins in the semi-final games on Saturday.

The girls started off the afternoon against the 3rd ranked team from Baptist Regional School.  Although ACS started the game with flying colors, led by Jodi Kelley (8 points and 4 steals) with her 1st quarter buzzer-beater, by the 3rd quarter Baptist had brought the game to within 6 points.  A few minutes into the 4th quarter Shereesha Richards (19 points and 15 rebounds) was called for an offensive charge and left the game with her 5th foul.  Despite the loss of one of their major strengths, ACS held on with a strong defense and well-coached offensive strategy.  The final score of the game was 37-30.   ACS moves on to the Championship game 5:00 Monday at ACS against the undefeated team from Gloucester.

Our boys team had a little easier time getting to the championship, beating Baptist Regional boys team 91-41 in their semi-final game.  Leading the charge for the Cougars were Derek Puhalski and Matt Leary, each with 16 points, and Deshon Minnis adding 15 to the teams final score.  The Cougars will go on to face T.C.A. in the Championship 7:00 at ACS on Monday.

This year both our boys and girls ACS basketball teams have a chance to win the league championship for the first time in school history.  Make sure you are there to witness this exciting event!
